Former Belgium striker Toni Brogno has died aged 53 after battling liver cancer.

His daughter announced his death on social media, saying he was the best dad and husband.

Brogno played professionally for 16 years in Belgium and France, retiring in 2009.

In the 1999–2000 season, he scored 30 goals in 32 league appearances to become Belgian First Division top scorer.

That season earned him a place in Belgium’s Euro 2000 squad, though he did not play in the tournament; he made seven appearances for the national team.
