Indonesian lawmaker urges licence review after doctor detained over alleged child abuse

A doctor identified as IS, 37, has been detained in Indonesia over alleged sexual abuse of his 3½-year-old child.

West Java police say he is still being questioned, and the allegations have not been proven.

The child’s mother reportedly became suspicious after the child imitated a sexual act and complained of pain while urinating.

The child reportedly said the behavior came from the father’s phone.

Yahya Zaini, a deputy chair of Indonesia’s House of Representatives Commission IX, called for a full investigation and urged the Health Ministry to revoke the doctor’s practice licence if wrongdoing is established.

He also asked the ministry to arrange a mental health examination.

Police questioning is continuing, while the lawmaker’s calls for further action remain requests.
