Lee Chang-dong’s Possible Love begins streaming on Netflix
Lee Chang-dong’s Possible Love is now streaming on Netflix.
The South Korean drama follows Mi-ok, whose husband Ho-seok has lost his factory job, and filmmaker Ye-ji, who wants to film their lives for a documentary.
The story draws on South Korea’s 2009 mass autoworker layoffs, which led to a prolonged worker protest and a forceful police response.
Ye-ji and her wealthy husband live in sharp contrast to Mi-ok’s family, and the couples’ relationship becomes increasingly uneasy.
The film examines class inequality and who benefits from telling workers’ stories, as Ye-ji’s project brings her into the family’s home.
Possible Love received the Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival and has been selected to represent South Korea in the international feature category at the 2027 Oscars.
