China confirms talks on possible Trump, Putin and Xi meeting

China says it is discussing a possible meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping, US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The talks concern a meeting in Shenzhen during the APEC summit on Nov.

18-19.

Trump and Putin have both shown interest, while China has not confirmed that the meeting will happen.

Russia says it hopes arrangements will be finalized in the coming days, with China hosting.

The leaders could discuss Ukraine, but Russia does not expect substantive negotiations on the war at the meeting.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said talks about the war should include Ukraine and warned against decisions that divide influence.

A three-way meeting would be unprecedented in modern times among the three nuclear powers.
