Indonesia Plans Food, Energy and Water Self-Sufficiency Zones in Four Provinces

Indonesia is preparing self-sufficiency zones for food, energy and water in four provinces.

The planned areas are in South Papua, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan and South Sumatra.

Food Deputy Coordinating Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq said ministries and agencies are strengthening coordination to speed up the work.

Officials plan to meet every few weeks to coordinate, monitor and support development.

The plan follows a 2025 presidential instruction requiring coordinated planning and implementation in the four provinces and any others designated later.

The government hopes to set a master plan soon; no specific date was given.

The zones are intended to support the government’s food, energy and water self-sufficiency goals.
