Aurélie Casse begins a week presenting France 2’s 8pm news

Aurélie Casse is presenting France 2’s 8pm news for the first time on Monday, October 26.

She is filling in for Jean-Baptiste Marteau for a week while he is on vacation.

Casse is already known to viewers as the presenter of France 5’s C dans l’air and Le monde en face.

Marteau took over as the main presenter after Léa Salamé stepped aside following her partner Raphaël Glucksmann’s decision to run for president.

Casse says the 8pm news brings a responsibility shared by the whole newsroom, and she feels pressure because viewers closely scrutinise presenters’ appearance, especially women’s.

She described the role as a new challenge at age 40 and said she has not signed anything, calling it a trial.
