Cesena beat Empoli 2-1 as the Shpendi twins shape the result

Cesena beat Empoli 2-1 at the Manuzzi stadium in Cesena, earning their second win of the season.

Cristian Shpendi put Cesena ahead with a curling shot before half-time, his seventh goal of the season.

Empoli equalised after the break through Saporiti, but Stiven Shpendi scored an own goal while trying to deal with a high ball near his goalkeeper.

Stiven, Cristian’s twin brother and an Empoli player, was later sent off for a foul that hit Cesena goalkeeper Siano in the head.

The win was Cesena’s first at home this season and lifted them to 11 points and 10th place, while Empoli fell to 17th.

Cesena play away to Südtirol next, on Saturday.
