UAZ delays updated Patriot X sales until the end of the year

UAZ has delayed sales of the Patriot X until the end of the year, after the updated SUV was expected at dealers in October or November.

The model is made by the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant in Russia and is an update of its flagship off-roader.

Production of the petrol version began in September, so the delay concerns when buyers can purchase it, not when assembly started.

The update brings a revised interior with new seats, a redesigned steering wheel and a dial to select driving modes, as well as LED headlights.

Buyers will initially get petrol and diesel options: a 150-horsepower petrol engine and a 136-horsepower turbo diesel, both paired with a six-speed manual gearbox.

The diesel's higher torque is intended to help with demanding driving, including off-road use and towing.

An automatic gearbox is planned for a later stage, and UAZ aims to complete the model range, including diesel versions and possible new options, by the end of 2026.
