Woman injured after being struck by unlicensed scooter rider in Yangju

A middle school student riding without a licence struck a 60-year-old woman with a shared electric scooter in Yangju, South Korea.

The crash happened on October 13 on a riverside walking path in Baekseok-eup, as both were moving in the same direction.

The woman fell into the stream beside the path and was taken to hospital after reporting neck pain.

Police say the scooter hit her from behind, and one account says they have provisionally attributed the crash to difficulty controlling it.

Police are checking nearby CCTV to establish exactly how the collision happened.

The case matters because an unlicensed student was riding a shared scooter on a path used by pedestrians.
