Alcaraz beats Michelsen to reach Paris Masters third round

Alcaraz beats Michelsen to reach Paris Masters third round

Carlos Alcaraz beat Alex Michelsen 7-6, 6-3 in the second round of the Paris Masters on Wednesday.

It was Alcaraz’s first match in Paris this year, and the win sent the Spanish player into the third round.

Former American doubles player Ryan Harrison rated Alcaraz’s performance 8.5 out of 10, noting that he raised his level at key moments.

Alcaraz has had a relatively poor record at this tournament, and indoor hard courts can help big servers end points quickly against him.

Several seeded players, including Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev, have already lost, leaving only five seeds in the draw.

Alcaraz is chasing his first Paris Masters title, and his next opponent is Italy’s Matteo Berrettini.

He was playing great. It was difficult because he was solid from the baseline, but I am just happy with everything. With my first match and with the feeling I got today. Just can’t wait to be back on court tomorrow.

I’m going to give him an 8.5; it could obviously be a little bit cleaner from his perspective.
