Hyderabad police book 51 people over loud sound during Ganesh festival

During this year’s Ganesh festival celebrations in Hyderabad, police acted against people using sound systems in ways that broke restrictions and disturbed the public.

The Charminar Zone police registered 27 cases against 51 people.

Officers identified the alleged violations using CCTV footage and on-the-ground monitoring.

Police seized 68 sound boxes and 21 amplifiers used in the violations.

The people were summoned, counselled and warned not to repeat the conduct at festivals or public gatherings.

The police said celebrations should take place without inconveniencing residents, and appealed to young people and organisers to avoid excessively loud sound systems.

Police say they will enforce sound and safety rules at future public celebrations.
