Apple reportedly plans M7 MacBook Pro models for next year
Apple is reportedly planning several MacBook Pro models for next year.
The entry-level 14-inch model is expected to use an M7 chip and adopt the thinner design and slimmer bezels of the new high-end laptops.
New touchscreen models are expected to use M7 Pro and M7 Max chips.
Apple’s current touchscreen MacBook Pro models use M5 Pro and M5 Max chips and add OLED displays, touch input and Dynamic Island.
The M7 chips are expected to support new AI hardware capabilities, but Apple has not said what those features would do.
The current touchscreen controls mainly support familiar gestures, and the display does not fold into a tablet position or support Apple Pencil.
The planned models could bring a more consistent MacBook Pro lineup, though Apple has not confirmed the plans or said whether it will stop making high-end models without touchscreens.
Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reports that Apple plans to introduce a redesigned entry-level MacBook Pro with an M7 chip next year.
The model is expected to adopt the thinner, lighter chassis and slimmer bezels of Apple’s recently introduced premium MacBook Pros.
Apple is also reportedly preparing second-generation touchscreen MacBook Pro models with M7 Pro and M7 Max chips.
The sources do not confirm whether the entry-level M7 model will get an OLED touchscreen, Dynamic Island or other premium-model features.
Gurman has said the M7 line is designed primarily for advances in on-device AI processing.
