Some northern Mexican municipalities will set clocks back on November 1

Some northern border municipalities in Mexico will turn clocks back one hour on Sunday, November 1, 2026.

The change applies to all municipalities in Baja California, specified border municipalities in Chihuahua, Coahuila and Tamaulipas, and Anáhuac in Nuevo León.

At 2 a.m., clocks should be set back to 1 a.m., giving people in those areas an extra hour.

Most of Mexico stopped changing clocks in 2022, so residents outside the listed municipalities will keep their usual time.

The border areas still change clocks to stay aligned with parts of the United States, which helps with trade, transport and border crossings.

The seasonal change is scheduled to begin on the second Sunday in March and end on the first Sunday in November.

Phones and other electronic devices generally update automatically if their time zones are set correctly.
