Four Stellantis plants face stoppages as concerns grow over 2027

Four Stellantis factories are facing production stoppages, with Sochaux and Rennes among the French sites affected.

Production at those two plants is due to stop for ten days from October 22 to November 2.

Peugeot and Citroën fear output could fall again in 2027, with possible effects on staffing.

Car sales have declined for three years, leaving factories with more capacity than needed.

A shortage of electric-vehicle batteries is also limiting production at Sochaux, where the supplier ACC has struggled to meet demand.

The Sochaux shutdown is expected to allow the plant to receive 1,000 batteries and resume assembling Peugeot 3008 and 5008 vehicles in early November.

ACC plans to supply 200 batteries a day next month, the amount Sochaux needs to operate at its planned pace.
