Han urges cross-party support for regional industry zones bill
South Korea’s Democratic Party floor leader Han Byung-do called for cross-party cooperation on a bill for special zones supporting regional industries.
The bill is meant to back the government’s three major regional projects.
It covers industries including shipbuilding and aerospace in the southeast, and advanced mobility and robotics in the Daegyeong region.
Han said the projects’ success would matter to the country’s industrial competitiveness and regional futures, not just the ruling party or government.
He argued that a special committee should review issues handled by several parliamentary committees so government support works together on the ground.
The National Assembly’s Steering Committee is due to discuss forming the special committee.

What people are saying
The success of the three major projects is not only the success of the Democratic Party, nor only the success of the Lee Jae-myung government.
I ask the People Power Party for bipartisan cooperation.
