Rodrigo Rangel leaves PlatôBR over use of his name in Carneiro's messages

Journalist Rodrigo Rangel is leaving PlatôBR, a politics-focused website based in Brasília.

He says he is leaving because owner Flávio Carneiro used his name in messages with Daniel Vorcaro, who owns Banco Master.

The messages, made public by Estadão, discussed coordinating posts in media outlets under Carneiro's influence.

Rangel said the exchanges did not lead to published content by him or his team and that he was not asked to carry out the actions discussed.

He said Carneiro's use of his name went against his values and approach to journalism.

Brazil Journal has removed Carneiro from executive duties and the company's partnership, saying the use of its name in the exchanges put its credibility at risk.
