Transurban traffic rises 3.1% as new road projects boost use
Transurban reported a 3.1% rise in average daily traffic across its toll roads in the September quarter, compared with a year earlier.
The company operates roads in Australia and North America, with traffic also increasing in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and North America.
Sydney traffic rose 3.0%, helped by the M7-M12 Integration Project, while Melbourne traffic grew 4.2%, supported by the opening of the West Gate Tunnel.
Brisbane traffic increased 1.1%, and North American traffic rose 4.7%, including strong growth on the 495 Express Lanes.
The figures show new road projects are adding to traffic growth, while more than 90% of Transurban’s income is linked to inflation or fixed increases.
Transurban says a vehicle classification issue in Melbourne is not expected to materially affect free cash flow or upcoming distributions, and it will continue issuing monthly traffic updates through 2026.
