Eddy Cinéma Backs Animated Feature ‘Wilderness of the Greenriver’

Hong Kong director Ellis Kayin Chan is developing the animated feature “Wilderness of the Greenriver,” which is being presented at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest in Taipei.

Its main character, Arin, discovers that a patient named Zia is the sister he lost, bringing back memories of their childhood.

The story takes place in a world where technology can erase painful memories, and asks what people might lose when they try to remove suffering.

The film draws on Chan’s experience of loss and explores how pain can be tied to love and family.

Paris-based producer Eddy Cinéma is backing the project, and its team is seeking Asian co-production partners, animation studios and distributors in Taipei.

The project has won awards at Taipei’s Golden Horse Film Project Promotion and at Annecy’s feature pitches.

The screenplay is due in early 2027, with a theatrical release planned for 2030.
