Canada designates proposed Pacific Link oil pipeline a project of national interest
The Pacific Link would carry oil from Bruderheim, Alberta, to a proposed port at Roberts Bank, B.C. The federal government has put it on a regulatory fast track by naming it a project of national interest.
The pipeline is not a sure thing: Indigenous groups have raised concerns about consultation, and environmentalists warn about climate and marine impacts.
Its supporters in business have not yet committed their own money.
