Alexia Putellas wins a record-equalling third women's Ballon d'Or

Spain midfielder Alexia Putellas won the women's Ballon d'Or for a third time, matching the record held by her former Barcelona team-mate Aitana Bonmatí.

The award has now gone to a Spanish player for six consecutive years.

Putellas earned the honour after captaining Barcelona to Champions League success and a quadruple in the 2025-26 season.

Her win marks a return to the top of the game after a serious knee injury in 2022 threatened her career.

She scored 21 goals and made 13 assists in all competitions last season, while also creating chances and helping Barcelona win its seventh straight Liga F title.

Putellas now plays for London City Lionesses, having joined the English club in July.
