‘Makhi Janata Party’ goes viral after Supreme Court Chief Justice’s remark
A satirical group called Makhi Janata Party has gained attention on Instagram after a remark by India’s Chief Justice, Surya Kant.
The name means “Fly People’s Party” in Hindi, and the account says it gained more than 3.3 lakh followers and 40 lakh views in 72 hours.
The remark came during a Supreme Court hearing in Delhi about possible restrictions on public transport ahead of a planned protest.
The court said authorities could impose controls for safety but should not bring the whole system to a halt, adding that a hammer should not be used to kill a fly.
The account turned the fly comparison into a satirical political identity, echoing the earlier Cockroach Janata Party, which also followed remarks by the Chief Justice.
Its page says a student named Aryan founded it, and it is seeking people to act as spokespeople.
The group has also voiced support for student activist Neha Bora and the Cockroach Janata Party, which have been involved in protests.
The account’s next steps are not clear, though it has said it is looking for spokespeople.

What people are saying
You can impose restrictions, but you cannot stop everything completely; the authorities cannot use a hammer to kill a fly
Since the Chief Justice himself said it, the fly also has something to say: we are second to none
