Pedestrian critically injured in collision with Mercedes in Offenbach

A 64-year-old pedestrian was critically injured in a collision with a car in central Offenbach, Germany, on Thursday evening.

Police say a 22-year-old was driving a white Mercedes along Waldstraße towards Spessartring at about 7:10 p.m.

The crash happened at the junction with Bismarckstraße, where the pedestrian had stepped onto the road at a traffic light.

The man was thrown onto the road and taken to hospital after receiving emergency care at the scene.

Police are investigating how the collision happened, including the Mercedes's speed and the traffic-light signals for both people.

The junction was partly restricted late Thursday, and police asked witnesses to come forward with information.
