Takasbank chief released under judicial controls in fund investigation

Takasbank General Manager Yunus Arıncı was questioned in an Istanbul fund investigation on 1 November.

The investigation concerns allegations that Takasbank liquidity was used to help some investors withdraw from a fund.

After questioning, a judge released Arıncı under judicial controls, including a ban on leaving Turkey and a requirement to sign in regularly.

T24 reported that Arıncı had resigned from his post, which he had held since June 2024.

The case has also drawn attention to borrowing through Takasbank’s money market and questions about the amounts involved.

Arıncı told a parliamentary committee that a 9 billion-lira risk figure was cumulative, but the explanation did not clarify whether it meant a balance at one time or transactions over a period.

Takasbank and Borsa Istanbul have said they did not lend their own funds to brokerage firms, and the investigation remains ongoing.
