KBO asks MLB to post Hanwha slugger Noh Si-hwan

The KBO has asked MLB to post Hanwha Eagles infielder Noh Si-hwan, starting the process for him to pursue a move to the United States.

MLB's 30 clubs can negotiate with him during a 30-day window that begins after the league office announces the posting.

Posting lets a player without free-agent status seek an MLB contract with his Korean club's approval, and a successful deal would bring Hanwha a transfer fee.

Noh has hit 153 home runs and driven in 586 runs in eight KBO seasons, including a 2023 season in which he led the league in both categories.

An MLB move would cancel his 11-year, 30.7 billion won Hanwha contract, and the agreement says he must return to Hanwha if he later comes back to the KBO.

A labor dispute could disrupt negotiations: MLB's current labor agreement is due to expire on December 5, and a failure to agree could lead to a lockout that stops league business.
