Turkey to give 80 million lira to Istanbul businesses hit by floods

Turkey's Trade Minister Ömer Bolat announced 80 million lira in aid for businesses hit by flooding in Istanbul.

The flooding followed heavy rain on October 14-15, which Bolat described as the most severe rainfall in 84 years.

The money is intended to meet businesses' urgent needs after the floods.

It will be sent through TESKOMB, a national union of small-business credit and guarantee cooperatives.

The funds are due at the Istanbul governor's office on October 19, according to Bolat.

The governor's office will coordinate delivery of the aid to affected businesses.
