Alejandro Duarte Jáquez arrested in Chihuahua on drug and ammunition allegations

Chihuahua state investigators arrested Alejandro Duarte Jáquez in Parral on November 3.

Authorities said they found cocaine, marijuana cigarettes and 11 .45-caliber cartridges in his possession.

Duarte Jáquez is the brother of former Chihuahua governor César Duarte, who governed from 2010 to 2016 and is in prison awaiting trial in a federal money-laundering case.

The arrest took place while Alejandro was driving a Toyota FJ Cruiser in the city.

He was taken to the state prosecutor’s office in southern Chihuahua, where prosecutors will determine his legal status.

The case involves allegations of drug possession and possession of ammunition reserved for military use.
