BNK expands financing for southeastern South Korea industries
BNK Financial Group is expanding industry-focused finance for businesses in Busan, Ulsan and South Gyeongsang, in southeastern South Korea.
The approach, which the group calls productive finance, aims to support economic growth rather than provide loans alone.
It treats companies and their supply chains as one ecosystem, including major firms, smaller suppliers, startups and workers.
Regional industries such as shipbuilding, defense, aerospace, energy and chemicals face pressure to adopt new technology, modernize factories and adjust to changing global supply chains.
BNK’s banks have created industry finance teams to shape support around strategic industries, while other group companies can offer equipment finance, investment and access to capital markets.
A 500 billion won fund launched in July targets strategic regional industries and promising innovative businesses.
BNK says its venture investment arm had invested 111.8 billion won in 47 regional companies by the end of 2025; the sources do not specify a further timetable.
