Heavy rain floods Los Cabos and sweeps vehicles into the sea

Heavy rain and fast-rising streams flooded Los Cabos in Baja California Sur, Mexico, on Friday, October 30.

The rain carried vehicles toward the sea at Costa Azul stream in San José del Cabo, while flooding also disrupted roads in Cabo San Lucas.

Authorities suspended classes and set up safety patrols to watch dangerous waterways and prevent people from crossing them.

One account said a woman was swept by a stream, while an earlier report described a man rescued in a separate incident on October 27.

The rain was linked to the remnants of Tropical Storm Vance, and forecasts said it would continue through Friday.

Officials urged people to avoid flooded areas and never cross streams, even if the water appears to have fallen.
