NASA invites the public to send names to Titan on Dragonfly

NASA is collecting names for a chip aboard Dragonfly, its planned rotorcraft mission to Saturn’s moon Titan.

People can submit their names by Jan.

15, 2027, and NASA will put them on the spacecraft during assembly.

Dragonfly is planned to launch in 2028 and reach Titan in 2034.

Titan has an atmosphere, rivers, lakes, dunes and organic material, making it a place to study chemistry linked to the ingredients for life.

The rotorcraft will fly between sites and analyze surface samples with scientific instruments during a mission expected to last about 3.3 Earth years.

Its work will examine Titan’s chemistry and past habitability, including whether it shows chemical indicators of life.
