Trump promises Kentucky drug plant investment if Republicans win midterms

Donald Trump rallied for Republican candidates in Highland Heights, Kentucky, as his party tries to keep control of Congress in the midterm elections.

He said Republicans would win a Defense Department investment to revive a drug manufacturing facility in Kentucky.

Trump also used the rally to boast that he has more power in his second term, citing his decision to rename the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America.

The midterms will decide control of both chambers of Congress, which could shape whether Democrats investigate his administration.

Republicans are concerned that voter frustration with Trump could hurt their candidates, amid rising prices linked in the coverage to tariffs and the Iran war.

Trump also claimed the Iran war would end soon and gas prices would fall, and repeated a promise to give every adult $5,000 if Republicans win both chambers.

The plant investment is conditional on a Republican victory, and the election results will determine whether it goes ahead.
