Italy raises 2026 working mothers’ bonus to up to €720

Italy’s social security agency, INPS, has set out the rules for a 2026 payment of up to €720 for working mothers.

Eligible women must be employed or self-employed, have two or more children, and meet the income and other requirements.

Mothers with two children qualify if the youngest is under 10; those with three or more qualify if the youngest is under 18.

The payment is €60 for each qualifying month, up from €40 in 2025, with a maximum of 12 months.

Applicants must have total work income of no more than €40,000 a year and submit an application to receive the bonus.

The family requirements must be met by 31 December 2026, and eligibility begins in the month all conditions are met.

INPS says the qualifying payments will be made in one sum in December 2026; the partial contribution exemption mentioned in the rules has been deferred to 2027.
