Dune: Part Three trailer hints Chani may turn against Paul
The final trailer for Dune: Part Three suggests Chani, played by Zendaya, may join a plot against Paul, played by Timothée Chalamet.
The film is based on Frank Herbert’s novel Dune Messiah, which takes place twelve years after Dune, with Paul ruling as emperor.
In the book, Chani and Paul stay together while Princess Irulan and the shapeshifter Scytale conspire against him.
The trailer’s apparent change makes Chani a possible opponent of Paul, rather than someone caught up in the conspiracy against him.
But Scytale can change his appearance, so the trailer leaves Chani’s identity uncertain in some scenes.
That uncertainty matters because it could mean the film is changing the story or using a disguise to undermine Paul.
The film is scheduled for theaters on December 18, 2026.
The final trailer for Dune: Part Three suggests Chani may join a conspiracy against Paul.
The trailer shows Chani declaring opposition to Paul and fighting against him.
This appears to differ from Frank Herbert’s novel Dune Messiah, in which Chani and Paul remain together.
The trailer also raises the possibility that the figure opposing Paul is not actually Chani, because Scytale can change form.
