Hotel-restaurant in Sarzeau closed over fire safety problems
Hotel-restaurant Lesage in Sarzeau has been closed to the public since October 5 under a municipal order.
The hotel and restaurant is in a 17th-century building on Place de la Duchesse-Anne in the Morbihan area of Brittany.
The mayor ordered the closure after repeated notices to the owner to carry out safety work.
The building was found to have serious, ongoing fire safety problems that could put staff and visitors at risk.
Required work includes installing fire doors and improving separation from neighbouring buildings.
Furniture must also be repositioned, and signs and information for visitors improved.
The closure is intended to address risks during a fire or evacuation, but no reopening date is given.
