Türk Eximbank and Canada’s EDC agree to support joint projects

Türk Eximbank and Canada's EDC signed a cooperation deal to support trade between the two countries.

The agreement followed a meeting in Istanbul between Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand.

It aims to help Turkish and Canadian companies develop joint projects in third-country markets, especially in Africa, the Middle East and North Africa, and Central Asia.

The ministers also discussed negotiations for a Türkiye–Canada free trade agreement, with the first round due to begin the week of November 30, 2026.

The deal is part of a broader strategic partnership launched by Türkiye and Canada on October 22, covering areas including trade, investment, energy and technology.

Bolat said the countries would keep working to deepen economic ties and create new opportunities for their companies.
