Sheinbaum says she does not instruct Mexico’s Supreme Court

Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum said she does not instruct the Supreme Court from the executive branch.

She said the government coordinates with the court on issues but that it is an independent branch of government.

Sheinbaum also said she meets people from many sectors, not only large business owners.

Those she named included children, producers, doctors, scientists and mothers searching for missing relatives.

She said some meetings with the mothers are not made public out of consideration for them.

She defended visits to Mexico’s states, saying she listens to people and personally follows up on requests she receives.

I do not instruct the Supreme Court in anything, nothing. They have freedom; there is coordination to discuss issues, but I never instruct the Supreme Court because it is another branch of government.

I respect the autonomy of the Court, the autonomy of the Bank of Mexico.

I do not give instructions to the Court; that would be very wrong, it would be illegal for me to give instructions to the Court, so I do not do it.
