Pathé Plans Hypnosis Experiment to Let Film Fans Rewatch Movies as New
Pathé plans to test whether hypnosis can make familiar films feel new again.
The experiment, called Pathé REWIND, is scheduled for November 9 at a cinema in The Hague, Netherlands.
Thirty selected participants will take part, after registration closed.
Hypnotherapist Victor Kraemer will hold sessions before participants watch a film, with titles including The Matrix, Se7en, La La Land and Interstellar under consideration.
The aim is to see whether hypnosis can affect viewers’ memories of a movie and restore the surprise of a first viewing.
Pathé says there is no guarantee the experiment will work and makes no claims about hypnosis as a method.
The results are not yet known.
