Ukraine reportedly strikes Russian factory supplying Iskander missile parts

Ukraine reportedly struck a Russian arms factory in Yelets, in the Lipetsk region.

The Energija factory makes components for Russia’s Iskander missile system, which can fire short-range ballistic missiles and cruise missiles.

The reports say Storm Shadow cruise missiles hit the factory, but Russia has not confirmed an attack on the plant.

A monitoring portal reported extensive damage to one production building, while a video showed an explosion at an unidentified location.

Russian state news agencies reported Ukrainian attacks in the region, and one cited the governor as saying at least one person was killed and six injured in an attack on Yelets’s industrial zone.

The reported strike matters because it may have hit a facility linked to weapons Russia uses in its war against Ukraine, but the factory damage has not been officially confirmed.
