Fortuna Düsseldorf dismisses Alexander Ende and appoints Jens Langeneke
Fortuna Düsseldorf has dismissed coach Alexander Ende after the club’s 1-3 home loss to 1.
FC Saarbrücken.
The German third-tier club has 14 points after 10 matches and sits in the middle of the table.
Ende took charge in April but could not prevent Düsseldorf’s relegation from the second division, and the club said it wanted a new impulse.
U23 coach Jens Langeneke will take over until further notice, while the club arranges a replacement for him in the youth team.
Langeneke has been with Fortuna since joining as a player in 2006 and has held coaching roles in its youth setup since 2015.
Düsseldorf hopes the change can steady the team after inconsistent performances and keep its ambitions on track.
Langeneke is due to lead the team in its next match, away to Hansa Rostock.
