Google Cloud outage disrupts Revolut, banks and delivery services
Google Cloud reported problems with multiple services in Western Europe on Tuesday, and its engineers were investigating.
Revolut customers reported being unable to make card payments, while HSBC, Lloyds Bank and DPD customers also reported problems.
It is not clear whether every disruption was linked to Google Cloud, though the problems began around the same time.
Cloud services provide the infrastructure that many websites and companies use instead of building it themselves.
That reliance can make services cheaper and more flexible, but it also means one provider’s technical problems can affect many businesses at once.
Google Cloud said its engineers were investigating and apologised to affected users.

Revolut said multiple services were disrupted, including card payments, transfers and ATM withdrawals.
Reports also named HSBC, Lloyds Bank, Royal Mail and DPD among services experiencing problems.
Google said engineers were investigating, and no estimated recovery time was reported by The Register.
