Vitória stayed 14th with 38 points, just two points clear of the relegation zone, which is led by Corinthians.

Vitória players appealed for a foul before Coritiba’s first goal, but the referee allowed it to stand.

The win gives Coritiba more distance from relegation danger, while Vitória remains under pressure in the fight to stay up.

Coritiba’s next league match is away to Internacional on November 3, while Vitória hosts Fluminense on November 6.
