US signs agreement to take part in Expo 2030 Riyadh

The US signed an agreement to take part in Expo 2030 Riyadh with Saudi Arabia.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan signed it in Atlanta during a meeting linked to the G20.

The agreement makes the United States an official participant and sets a formal basis for preparations.

The expo is scheduled for October 1, 2030, to March 31, 2031 in Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 aims to reduce the kingdom’s dependence on oil exports, and the expo is due to take place at the programme’s culmination.

The event is expected to bring together 197 official participants and attract more than 42 million visitors.

The US says it plans a pavilion in Riyadh and sees the expo as a chance to showcase the country and expand commercial opportunities for US businesses.
