Indonesia Orders Banks to Block Nearly 40,000 Online Gambling Accounts

Indonesia's Financial Services Authority, known as OJK, has ordered banks to review or block about 39,923 accounts linked to online gambling.

The accounts were flagged using data from the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs.

OJK also asked banks to check for other accounts linked to the same national identity numbers as people suspected of online gambling.

The total number of accounts targeted has risen from 38,796 previously.

The move is part of efforts to curb online gambling, which OJK says affects the economy and financial sector.

Separately, Indonesia's Anti-Scam Centre had received 737,686 scam complaints by the end of October 2026, and Rp967.5 billion in victims' funds had been blocked.

Of that blocked money, Rp208.9 billion had been returned to victims.
