Innospace launch service selected for South Korean offset trade programme
South Korea selected Innospace’s low-Earth-orbit launch service as a recommended item for industrial cooperation offset trade.
Offset trade involves a foreign supplier providing benefits, such as technology transfers or purchases of domestic goods, when a government buys weapons or military equipment from abroad.
Until now, space-related items in this process have included rocket parts and equipment carried on satellites.
The selection makes space transport services eligible for this kind of cooperation between countries.
Innospace says its Hanbit-Nano rocket is not subject to US International Traffic in Arms Regulations, which it says means fewer export-control limits on its launch business.
The company plans to pursue overseas partnerships and new customers in the defence and aerospace sectors.
