Three men flee into woods after burglary in Slenaken

A burglary was discovered at a home in Slenaken on Thursday evening.

Witnesses saw three men at the property, and they ran into woodland near the Belgian border.

The residents were not home, and police found signs of a break-in after first receiving a call about a possible robbery involving violence.

Police and Belgian officers searched for the men, with help from Staatsbosbeheer, the Dutch nature agency.

Search teams used heat cameras, and authorities sent a message to local residents asking them to stay alert.

The search did not find the three men.

The available information does not say whether they have been identified or what happens next.
