Indonesian lawyer Kamaruddin Simanjuntak died in Jakarta on Monday, October 19.

He was known for representing the family of Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat, a police officer known as Brigadier J. His work brought him public attention during the murder case involving Brigadier J and former police official Ferdy Sambo.

His family had not yet agreed on funeral arrangements, according to the colleague.

His death matters to people who followed the case because he had represented the victim’s family.

I was so sad to get a phone call this morning, Monday (19/10/2026), from Jakarta. Farewell on your journey to eternity, my kind brother; you made so many sacrifices for our family. May God strengthen, sustain and comfort the family you leave behind.
