Amazon launches Echo Time smart alarm clock with optional sleep-based alarms
Amazon has launched the Echo Time, a smart alarm clock designed for bedrooms.
It has a 3.2-inch screen, customizable clock faces and lighting that brightens toward morning and dims at night.
The clock has no camera and includes indicators when Alexa is listening and a button to switch off its microphones.
Its optional smart alarm uses room temperature, movement and breathing sensors to estimate sleep and can wake users within a window of up to an hour around their set time.
That flexibility may suit days off, but people who need to wake at an exact time can turn the feature off; CNET says it requires an Alexa Plus subscription.
The adult model costs $200, and a kids’ version costs $210 with a year of Amazon Kids+ included.
Amazon says the clocks are available now, while CNET says shipping starts in December.
