Spanish comedian Pepe Colubi says he has Parkinson’s disease
Spanish comedian and writer Pepe Colubi, 60, has said he has Parkinson’s disease.
He received the diagnosis on April 5, 2024, and had kept it private until speaking publicly on a radio programme on October 11.
He first noticed tiredness and changes in his blood pressure, then a tremor in a finger on his right hand.
His father also had Parkinson’s, which helped Colubi understand the diagnosis, though he said the news initially left him stunned.
Colubi is taking medication, but says treatment involves many pills and monitoring for side effects such as dizziness, tiredness and stiffness.
He has called for more support for patients between medical appointments.
He says going public has eased some pressure and will change how he relates to the disease.
