Prosecutors seek life sentence for woman accused of killing Fabian

Prosecutors in Rostock are seeking a life sentence for Gina H., accused of killing eight-year-old Fabian.

They say she stabbed him on October 10, 2025, near Klein Upahl, south of Güstrow, and set his body on fire.

Gina H. denies the allegations, and the case is being heard by a court in Rostock.

Prosecutors say she wanted to remove Fabian as an obstacle in her relationship with his father and punish the father after their separation.

Fabian’s mother is taking part in the case as a co-plaintiff, and her lawyer also called for a life sentence.

The prosecution says the evidence leaves no reasonable doubt, although the defence has questioned the evidence during the trial.

If the court finds the crime especially serious and that ruling becomes final, release before 15 years would not be possible.

The defence is due to make its closing statement on Friday, before the court reaches a verdict.
