China’s Glimmer Plan expands support for rare tumor patients

China’s Glimmer Plan has launched its second season to support people affected by rare tumors of bone and soft tissue.

The project will collect stories from patients, family members and doctors about giant cell tumor of tendon sheath and desmoid tumors.

These conditions are rare and can be difficult to diagnose, and patients may face unclear treatment options.

Giant cell tumor of tendon sheath is benign but can invade nearby tissue, cause pain and stiffness, and return after treatment.

Desmoid tumors do not spread to distant parts of the body, but their course is hard to predict and they can damage nearby muscles, nerves or organs.

The first season collected 32 patient stories about giant cell tumor of tendon sheath and reached more than 60,000 patients.

The new season aims to share practical experiences and improve public understanding of both conditions, with submissions open through February 27, 2027.
