Man dies after falling from Six Flags rollercoaster in Georgia

Hassan Kariem, 42, died after falling from a rollercoaster at Six Flags Over Georgia, outside Atlanta, on Monday.

Park staff found the Atlanta resident beneath the ride, unresponsive and not breathing.

Several other people were injured and taken to hospital after the incident.

Kariem had visited the park with his family over the years and returned with his partner and relatives to continue that tradition.

Witnesses said the ride’s restraints made an unusual clicking noise and staff checked them before the car set off, but these accounts have not established what caused the fall.

Authorities are investigating how the accident happened; the park has not provided further details in the information available.

Kariem worked in education and technology for Atlanta Public Schools, which said he would be deeply missed.

The restraints kept making a clicking sound, as if they were locking and then unlocking again.
